Public Tender Overview:

UCC hereby issues this information in accordance with the requirements of EC directive 2014/24/EU for Establishment of a Multi Supplier Framework of Specialist Contractors using the Open Procedure for HVAC Installations at UCC and Contract for UCC Boole Special Collections Chiller Upgrade. The initial contract comprise works to the Boole Library which is currently heated from the main campus district heating system. There are 2no. 300 kW chillers on the roof which were sized for comfort cooling via the library AHUs, however these are not used for that purpose. The Special Collections area in Q-1 houses rare and important books and artifacts, which need to be maintained at a certain temperature and humidity of approximately 18 degrees and 55 percent relative humidity. In order to dehumidify the large comfort cooling chillers are used and heating is supplied by 2no. 100kW boilers. Both the chillers and boilers, as well as the associated distribution pumps, are all enabled 24x7 to fulfil the required conditions in the space. The chillers are old and in poor condition, and one is currently not operational. The initial contract is for the installation of a small chiller system which is matched to the cooling load which will be more efficient and reliable, as well as being able to deliver the required CHW temperatures to achieve adequate dehumidification. The top six ranked tenders will be appointed to the Framework.
